Proud to support our teachers, at Friday’s CTU Rally.
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of participating in the 2016 “Summit of Hope” event, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Corrections. At this community expo, local service providers come together, to create a one-stop environment where invited parolees and probationers can obtain the services needed to help them move past barriers that may prevent an individual from leading a successful life.
On this day, various local elected officials, including myself, received the “Star of Hope” award, for our efforts to help reduce recidivism in our respective districts/wards. While I am very humbled by the sentiment, I recognize that there is so much more to be done and am committed to continue doing my part, to make the parolees and probationers transition back into society as productive and positive as possible.
